Tracking NPTR Incidents and Applications

SATSA News

As part of SATSA’s ongoing efforts to address challenges related to NPTR processes and enforcement, we are introducing a simple incident tracking schedule to strengthen our lobbying and engagement with the relevant authorities.

Many operators and guides have faced concerning incidents - from harassment and unjustified pullovers to fines and vehicle impoundments. These stories matter. By collectively documenting and tracking such experiences, we can present credible, evidence-based concerns in higher-level discussions.

If you or your team have encountered any incidents of this nature, please email a brief summary to NPTR@satsa.co.za. All submissions will be compiled into a confidential and secure schedule that will help SATSA identify patterns, quantify impact, and advocate more effectively on your behalf.

To ensure consistency, please include the following details in your email:

  • Date of incident

  • Location (town/city and province)

  • Operator name and vehicle details (if applicable)

  • Nature of the incident (e.g. pulled over, harassment, fined, impoundment)

  • Authorities involved (e.g. traffic police or other)

  • Outcome (if any, e.g. fines issued, vehicle released, court date set)

  • A short description of what happened (2–3 sentences)

Even if the incident feels minor, please share it - every data point helps build a clearer picture.

In addition, we kindly ask that you also provide the status of any NPTR applications currently in process. Please include:

  • Application date

  • Type (e.g. new, accreditation, renewal)

  • Vehicle registration number(s)

  • Application number(s)

  • Last update received

  • Current status

Your input will remain confidential and will only be used to support our collective advocacy efforts.
