Tourism Monitors prepare for duty

The first group of 100 Tourism Monitors have now been deployed in priority regions of Mpumalanga Province, including around the Graskop/Blyde River area and Hazyview. Currently, they are undergoing training to enhance their proficiency before assuming duty, ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.
The key performance areas of the appointed Tourism Monitors, who are placed in key attractions/sites with high volumes of tourists or areas posing a high potential risk, include:
- Patrolling within the identified attractions and sites/areas.
- Raising tourism awareness and providing information to tourists about attractions and the country.
- Reporting any crime incidents to the SAPS and other relevant enforcement agencies.
- Assisting with tourist victim support.
The placement of Tourism Monitors in the remainder of the provinces will take place over the coming weeks.
