SATSA Tourism Business Incubator: Four Years of Growth and Opportunity

SATSA News

Behind every tourism business is a network of suppliers, from the company's providing food and linen to those delivering transport, maintenance and other essential services.

For smaller, Black-owned businesses, securing contracts with established tourism operators is not always easy. Yet our industry has an important role to play in helping these businesses grow and ensuring that more of tourism’s economic benefits reach local communities. That is why SATSA established the Tourism Business Incubator in 2022.

Four years on, we are pleased to share Growing the Businesses Behind Tourism, a report celebrating the businesses, partnerships and people behind the programme’s success. Working with our implementation partner, Sigma International, the incubator helps small businesses develop the skills, systems and relationships they need to grow.

What you will find in the report

  • Stories of business growth: Meet the entrepreneurs who have grown from small local suppliers into established businesses serving the tourism industry.
  • Opportunities for your business: Discover how SATSA members can connect with emerging suppliers, open up procurement opportunities and support their growth.
  • B-BBEE benefits: Find out how sponsoring a business through the incubator can contribute towards your company’s B-BBEE scorecard.
