JENMAN African Safaris has launched the Madagascar Masoala Rainforest Escape, an exclusive eight-day Signature Journey that combines two of Madagascar’s most biodiverse regions: Andasibe and the Masoala Peninsula. The itinerary links rainforest and coastal ecosystems in one seamless journey, offering travellers an accessible yet immersive way to experience Madagascar's rare wildlife and natural diversity.

Unlike a scheduled group tour, this Signature Journey is designed as a private, flexible experience for travellers who value comfort, authenticity, and expert guiding. Every element is designed for comfort, authenticity, and discovery.

Journey Overview

The itinerary begins in Antananarivo, where guests spend a night adjusting before heading east to Andasibe. This region, known for its lush rainforest and endemic wildlife, offers close encounters with Madagascar’s famous Indri lemurs and a variety of chameleons, geckos, and bird species. Guests explore Analamazaotra National Park and Vakona Private Reserve, as well as Lemur Island, where several habituated species can be observed at close range.

After returning to the capital for an overnight stay, the journey continues with a scheduled charter flight to Maroantsetra and a coastal boat transfer to the remote Masoala Peninsula. Here, guests spend three nights at an eco-conscious forest lodge located between the Indian Ocean and primary rainforest. Days are filled with guided walks through coastal and lowland forest, where sightings of red-ruffed lemurs, helmet vangas, and dwarf chameleons are common.

Afternoons offer the choice of snorkelling over coral reefs, kayaking at sunset, or gliding quietly along the Tampolo River in a traditional pirogue. A visit to Ambodiforaha village gives travellers a glimpse into Malagasy community life, while guided night walks provide opportunities to see mouse lemurs and leaf-tailed geckos.
