From 30 March to 2 April, the Africa’s Eden Travel Show – Africa Edition brought together the travel trade community in the heart of Livingstone, Zambia. What followed was four days of connection, collaboration and rich conversation — all with the majestic Zambezi River as our backdrop.

Buyers arrived straight from familiarisation trips across the region, still buzzing from the experiences they’d just had. It created a sense of momentum that carried through a programme packed with destination workshops, curated panel discussions, and meaningful networking sessions.

The content touched on key themes shaping our industry right now: from the Tour Operator Value Chain and responsible tourism practices, to the evolving world of MICE and the rise of Film and Adventure Tourism.

SATSA was proud to be part of the programme. CEO David Frost led a robust discussion which was moderated by Africa's Eden CEO Jillian Blackbeard, on the State of Tourism in Southern Africa, joined by key voices from Royal African Discoveries, New Frontiers and Sense of Africa. The discussion tackled tough questions about geographic spread, capacity, and collaboration – all with a view to driving more inclusive and sustainable growth.

Strategic Communications and Project Manager, Kim Taylor, facilitated a dedicated breakaway session on 101 Adventures, unpacking the progress made on self-regulation within the Adventure Tourism sector.

The magic of Livingstone wasn’t just confined to the meeting rooms. Delegates took to the water for an unforgettable sunset event on the Zambezi, sipped sundowners aboard the elegant David Livingstone Express en route to Victoria Falls Bridge, and closed the week with a celebratory evening under the stars at David Livingstone Safari Lodge. With live music, dancing, and a themed dress-up that got everyone involved, it was a fitting end to a week defined by meaningful moments and new connections.

One of the standout features of this edition was the opportunity for South African trade to participate as buyers — engaging directly with regional exhibitors through focused, high-quality meetings. These conversations are essential in building a more connected Southern African offering, aligned to the needs of our key international source markets.
