For those looking to inject a shot of excitement into their Garden Route itinerary, Africanyon delivers the ultimate outdoor thrill. Based near Plettenberg Bay, Africanyon offers professionally guided canyoning tours (also known as kloofing) that take guests deep into hidden gorges, along crystal-clear streams, down waterfalls, and across rock pools — all under the safe guidance of trained adventure experts.
Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned adrenaline-seeker, Africanyon is all about adventure made accessible. With safety as a top priority, guests are fully kitted out in wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, and personal flotation devices, ensuring a safe, unforgettable experience in the heart of nature’s playground.
Two Ways to Experience the Canyon
Africanyon offers two canyoning experiences to suit different adventure levels:
The Standard Canyoning Tour (R1,150 per person)
This is Africanyon’s signature experience, featuring multiple abseil (or rappel) sections near waterfalls, optional cliff jumps, and the thrilling rock pool zip-line — a firm favourite with families and adventure travellers alike.
The Short Canyoning Tour (R900 per person)
Ideal for those short on time or new to canyoning, this introductory version includes abseiling and the same spectacular scenery but excludes the zip-line section.
Daily Departures & Gear Provided
Tours depart multiple times daily:
Standard trips: 09:00, 11:00, and 13:00
Short trips: 10:00 and 14:00
Participants are required to arrive an hour ahead of their booked slot for gear fitting and a safety briefing.
All essential gear is provided, including wetsuits, helmets, and harnesses. Shoes are available for rent at R90 a pair for those who prefer not to get their own wet.
Family-Friendly & First-Timer Approved
Africanyon is a hit with families — children from 8 years old (accompanied by a parent or guardian) are welcome. No previous experience is necessary; expert guides will lead you through each section step by step. It’s this combination of high-energy fun, natural beauty, and supportive guidance that has earned Africanyon a reputation as one of the top family activities on the Garden Route.
