ASSISTANT LODGE MANAGER

Based near Rorke's Drift (60km from Dundee) in KwaZulu Natal, this busy luxury Lodge and Guest House is well known for its battlefield tours, catering to an upmarket mainly British clientele.

We are looking for an assistant manager whose duties will include, but not be limited to, management of housekeeping, orders and stock control, the management of schedules of housekeeping staff, hosting of guests and she will be required to relieve in all positions when staff are on leave.  The ability to speak Zulu would be an advantage.

Staff often dine with guests so it is essential for the management staff to be presentable, well spoken and confident.

The position is live in. Accommodation is a serviced en suite room with sitting room.  All laundry and meals are included.  Car is parked in a covered carport.

We work on a system of 6 days leave per month and 3 weeks long leave after 1 year's service.

The position is available immediately.

Salary: R6 000 plus board and lodging which is worth approximately R5 000.  This is negotiable dependant on experience.

Salary: R350-450K CTC

The position is brand new and thus there is little structure where the position is concerned within a Tourism Retail Group.

The candidate will ensure that all financial aspects of the business unit operate at optimal efficiency thereby ensuring maximum profitability and minimizing losses, by adhering to the Finance Management, Accounting and Corporate Governance legislature.

Qualifications:

  • Financial Management

TOURIST GUIDE

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to fluently speak a foreign language - FRENCH / ITALIAN/ SPANISH/GERMAN/DUTCH
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, in order to communicate engagingly with groups/ individuals
  • Guiding qualification
  • Must be fun, confident, enthusiastic, well-organized with a passion for travel & adventure
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work without supervision
  • Valid drivers licence and PDP

DUTIES:

  • Escort individuals or groups on , sightseeing tours, or through places of interest
  • Describe tour points of interest to group members, and respond to questions
  • Monitor visitors' activities in order to ensure compliance with establishment or tour regulations and safety practices
  • Meet & Greet visitors, and issue any required identification badges and/or safety devices
  • Distribute brochures, and explain establishment processes and operations at tour sites
  • Provide directions and other pertinent information to visitors
  • Provide information about wildlife varieties and habitats, as well as any relevant regulations, such as those pertaining to hunting and fishing, where necessary
  • Select travel routes and sites to be visited based on knowledge of specific areas
  • Assemble and check the required supplies and equipment prior to departure
  • Ensure that visitors have a safe and enjoyable journey
